Best False Lashes For Hooded Eyes: A Makeup Artists Guide
Best False Lashes for Hooded Eyes
If you have hooded eyes, choosing the right false lashes can make a huge difference to how open and defined your eyes look. As a professional makeup artist, I’ve worked with every eye shape over the years, and one of the biggest mistakes I see with hooded eyes is choosing a lash that overwhelms the eye rather than enhancing it.
The good news is that you absolutely can wear false lashes with hooded eyes. It’s simply about choosing the right shape, length and weight.
What lashes are best for hooded eyes?
For hooded eyes, I generally recommend lightweight lashes that add definition without taking up too much visible lid space.
A lash that gradually becomes longer towards the outer corner can help elongate the eye, while a ¾ lash is a brilliant option because it concentrates the definition towards the outer eye and keeps the inner corner feeling open and comfortable.
Why I created the Mia ¾ Lash
I designed the Mia ¾ Lash to give a soft, wispy, eye-opening effect without overwhelming the eye.
Mia is lightweight, easy to apply and blends beautifully with your natural lashes. Because she’s a ¾ length, you don’t have a lash band running across the entire eye, making her a gorgeous option for hooded eyes, smaller eyes or anyone who finds traditional full strip lashes difficult to wear.
She gives you definition and a polished finish while still looking soft and natural.
My makeup artist tip for applying lashes to hooded eyes
Don’t automatically follow your natural lash line downwards at the outer corner. Positioning the outer edge of the lash very slightly higher can help the eye appear more open and elongated.
Another tip is to allow your lash adhesive to become tacky before you apply the lash. Trying to apply it while the adhesive is still too wet makes positioning much harder.
I created Glam Grip Lash Adhesive to be fast drying, malleable and strong holding, giving you enough flexibility to position your lash while providing reliable all-day hold.
False lashes should enhance your eye shape
The most important thing to remember is that false lashes shouldn’t hide your eyes. They should enhance them.
If you have hooded eyes and have struggled with strip lashes before, try changing the shape of the lash, not giving up on lashes altogether. A lightweight ¾ style such as Mia could completely change how lashes look and feel on your eyes.
